Florence Cost

The Wells in Florence program fee for Fall 2012 is $16,700 for apartment stay, and $17,900 for home stay (home stay includes two meals per day). The Wells in Florence program fee for Spring 2013 is $17,700 for apartment stay, and $18,900 for home stay (home stay includes two meals per day). The Wells in Florence program fee includes international airfare.

The program fee includes:

  • Round-trip international airfare New York-Italy-New York on a regularly scheduled commercial airline
  • Airport reception and transfer on arrival in Italy
  • Tuition and fees for up to 15 credit hours per semester, issued on an official Wells College transcript. A surcharge of approximately $850 will be made if a student enrolls in 5 subject-based courses at Lorenzo de’ Medici (this fee is paid to the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute, not to Wells College).
  • Fully furnished, centrally located apartment including utilities, or homestay accommodation with breakfast and dinner daily. All accommodation options are within walking distance of Lorenzo de’ Medici.
    • Apartments include:
      • Shared bedroom (supplemental charge for single room)
      • Fully stocked kitchen with necessary pots, pans, dishware, and utensils
      • Linens, towels, pillows, blanket, and a bedspread 
      • Washing machine
      • TV
    • Homestay includes:
      • Shared bedroom
      • Continental breakfast and dinner daily for the duration of the program
      • Linens, towels, pillows, blanket, and a bedspread 
  • On-site full-time Resident Directors
  • Academic and personal advising (pre-departure and on-site)
  • Pre-departure guide 
  • One-week on-site cultural immersion and orientation program that covers cultural adaptation, academic expectations, and health and safety issues as well as providing an introduction to Tuscany and Italian culture with trips to Sienna, Pisa, and more
  • Cultural events and social activities throughout the semester including group dinners, a weekend trip to Venice and several other day excursions. Past excursions have been to a soccer match, the grape festival in Impruneta, Carnival in Viareggio, San Gimignano, and Cinque Terre.
  • Semester pass to state museums and galleries in Florence
  • Rent-free cell phone service (students pay only for calls made, not those received)
  • Computer lab and free wireless Internet access at the Institute Lorenzo de’ Medici
  • International Student Identity Card (ISIC) Premium Card, which includes supplemental medical insurance and other coverage
  • 24-hour emergency contact numbers
